**CLOSED** Giveaway! Handmade Felt Play Food

Jenny Densing is a Houston resident artist, whose medium is felt! She sells her products through her Etsy store. I admit I didn't really "get" the hype about felt food, until I saw these. Ms. Densing sent the boys a sushi and fortune cookie set to review. This handiwork is exquisite. The sushi rolls look just like little cucumber rolls at Panda Express! This picture is from JDensing Felt Play Food's Facebook Fan Page. There is no doctoring up of these photos. They are as amazing in real life as they look in the pictures!
These toys are handcrafted, made with eco-friendly felt and they are stuffed with a non-allergenic premium polyester fiberfill. (That means, for my friends whose kiddos have asthma - these are unlikely to trigger attacks.) They are designed to be used as an alternative to hard plastic toy foods in play kitchens.

JDensing Felt Play Food has been sold in 9 different countries and was featured in the Spring 2011 issue of Lucky Kids magazine.

Etsy has selected her products to be featured in the Handmade Holiday Workshop and Mini-Market, which will be held at the upscale West Elm Store in Highland Village in Houston, TX on December 1st.

When I opened the package, Jasper could hardly wait to get his hands on them. I couldn't even get him to leave them alone to take a picture! The sushi rolls are perfectly sized for him to hold and the chopsticks are exactly right for his little hands. We played with them for a little bit, I showed him how to use the chopsticks and he worked very hard to get the chopsticks to hold the sushi - eventually he gave up and held them in his fist with the sushi in them and pretended to take a bite - and then, using the chopsticks like a mini-lacrosse stick - threw them at his brother. BUT! This is the best part - since it's made of felt, Jonny laughed when he got hit with it instead of crying! It was great. He also tried to eat them, but was slightly disappointed when it wasn't really food.

The detail on this set is incredible. The seaweed wrap around the sushi has the zigzag edge like they do at Say Sushi in State College, PA (Sorry Texans, that's the last time I ate real sushi). The fortune cookie has a little felt fortune sticking out of it. Everything is tightly stitched - I have boys, I can usually tell when a toy is going to hold up to preschool torture - these will for sure.

Ms. Densing is giving me the opportunity to offer to one of you lucky readers a free set of 3 M&M cookies!

Also, Bedfordnomics readers are invited to check out her store and use the code THANKS to get 10% off your order!
